Designer’s Corner Questions

Question: What types of flooring patterns are available for each different size tiles?

Answer: Your imagination is the only limitation. (That and a little bit of geometry!)

First, if you want to determine the pattern yourself, draw out the size of your room. Then, with tracing paper, start trying different size tiles to see what lays out the best.

All tiles can be laid:

Running Bond
  • Straight
  • Diagonal
  • Running Bond
  • Checkerboard
  • Diagonal with dots
  • Straight or diagonal with accent dots

Some of the many pattern options are:

  • 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3 size tiles can go almost anywhere
  • 3x6

These are just a few examples. Feel free to create your own pattern discussing it thoroughly with your designer, sales consultant and installer. Also, patterned tiles require more work during the installation process and therefore will cost more. Usually, the more tiles involved and the more complicated the pattern, the higher the price.
