What’s New On The Softer Side Of Flooring?

Submitted By Annette Callari, ASID; CMG

Color, pattern and texture are carpets’ claim to fame.  And only broadloom carpet can provide the softness under foot that other floor coverings cannot.  Given that, I’ve been on the search for some recent introductions that certainly excel in the area of color, texture, and/or pattern.

Shaw/Tuftex Carpets is the creator of “Modern Twist”-- a bulky frieze style carpet with multi-colored yarns twisted together.  The color Sugar and Spice features persimmon and deep green highlighting a field of warm beige.  This style is great at hiding footprints and doesn’t easily show soil or lint.  That’s important to consider when choosing a carpet style.  If you don’t like vacuum marks or footprints, definitely consider a frieze construction for your home.

Here are the facts on “Modern Twist”:

100% Bulked Continuous Filament Anso Nylon

20 Year Quality Assurance Warranty

20 Year Texture Retention Warranty

20 Year Abrasive Wear Warranty

30 Day Customer Satisfaction Guarantee

Masland Carpets has introduced an elegant, understated tweed pattern called “Loxley”.  The color Sterling features heathered grays on a cream-colored background.  It creates a visual that can be dressy or casual—your choice—because it lends itself to any type of décor. Of special interest is the fiber shield application, Lotus FX®, incorporated in the Stainmaster Luxurell® nylon. This chemistry is built-in during the manufacturing process and allows spills to bead up on the carpet surface, avoiding permanent stains.  It also allows for easy release of dry soil during vacuuming so carpet stays 30% cleaner than others.  That’s a pretty impressive resume for one very good-looking carpet.  Here are more particulars on “Loxley”:

100% Luxurell Nylon with Lotus FX Fiber Shield

7 Year Stain and Soil Warranty

10 Year Texture Retention Warranty

10 Year Abrasive Wear Warranty

Also made with Anso Nylon is Shaw Industries’ “Calabria”.  This is not a new introduction, but has been stunningly re-colored.  What a great geometric pattern with a soft touch to it.  Contemporary designs would be enhanced with “Calabria” as the chosen foundation.  If color is important to you, definitely check out this beautiful style.

I love patterns with movement.  They are soothing and contemporary and Dixie Home has a winner in their line.  “Benovia” is made from 100% Stainmaster Tactesse fiber, known for its extremely soft “hand”.  Luxury defines this carpet in both appearance and feel.  Replicating swirls of sand carved into the ocean floor, “Benovia” is organic and restful.  An impressive warranty package completes the picture:

100% Stainmaster Tactesse

7 Year Stain and Soil Warranty

10 Year Abrasive Wear Warranty 10 Year Texture Retention Warranty

These are just a few of the stand-outs in the world of carpet.  Hopefully I’ve saved you some research as you narrow in on the carpet that’s right for you.  Today’s fiber technologies make broadloom an excellent choice for busy households, one that will look good for years to come.

This article was an extraordinary example of how to communicate with consumers. Carpet purchases create turmoil as there is a significant amount of history each buyer brings to the purchase decision. This article provided me additional insight into my decision to purchase. Thank you.
